The Dane Miller Legacy Award for Girls Wrestling honors the legacy of Coach G. Dane Miller, whose leadership and advocacy helped make girls wrestling a recognized and celebrated sport in our community and across Pennsylvania.

Dane Miller’s coaching and advocacy created an environment that enabled Schuylkill Valley to be a leader in girls wrestling. Girls who step onto the mat learn to trust themselves, stand tall, and break barriers. The Dane Miller Legacy Award honors those qualities by supporting their continued development so they can shape the future of girls wrestling and become the leaders their teammates and community need.

Why Apply?

The Dane Miller Legacy Award supports a Schuylkill Valley girl wrestler who is committed to growing in the sport and strengthening the future of girls wrestling in our community. This award recognizes athletes who show heart, consistency, and a desire to lift others as they learn and improve. Included in the award:

  • $1000 scholarship to support the athlete’s continued development in wrestling, including camps, clinics, off-season training, competition travel, or college recruiting events.

  • A custom piece of apparel recognizing the winner and symbolizing their achievement.

  • An individual plaque, with their name will be added to a perpetual plaque to be displayed at the school.

Who Is Eligible?

Any member of the SV High School girls wrestling team, grades 9-12 in the current school year.

Download the application form. Be prepared to write about why you love wrestling, your commitment to sportsmanship and leadership, and how this will help you achieve your goals.
